Terra 53 EV charger

ABB (formerly Epyon Power), producer of fastcharge technology for electric vehicles, asked Studio Rotor to create a design for the Terra 53 fast charger.

One of the challenges was to order all elements in a logical way for users while keeping a clean appearance.

Next to that, we’ve looked at how connectors of various charging standards could be held by the charging station, in such way that it is easy and intuitive for users to take the connector out and put it back.

The Terra 53 chargers are being deployed worldwide. In the Netherlands, Fastned is using these chargers to provide a nation-wide network.

Studio Rotor’s involvement: problem analysis, ideation, concept development, styling, ergonomics, supervision of prototype building.
